This innovation can be considered as an illustration for the obsession behavior of patriotism. Glorifying objects such as the BUTTFLAG has been used with deliberation without inquiring about its essence and origin. The BUTTFLAG became the ultimate solution not only for discomfort but also for pride. Deliberations have been fabricated by mankind, constituted the BUTTFLAG into a worshiping hysteria. The new enhancement: “Don’t start the day without your BUTTFLAG.” INTERVIEWS: Through video images/interviews 20 BUTTFLAG consumers express and share their experiences! Quotes from the video footage: “It brings me close to nature”, “I don’t want to share it, it’s mine”, “My mother is proud of me” INVESTIGATION POLAROID PICTURES: 20 Instant pictures taken of consumers who got injured and/or died. THE BUTTFLAGS: 20 BUTTFLAGS rest horizontally on a white velvet cushion installed in a glass casket on a Corinthian pedestal. POSTER: A caricature of the original image of the first man on the moon. The BUTTFLAG poster will exhibit the image of the BUTTFLAG in usage. Materials: Plastic/Video/Instant pictures/Glass/Tread/Paper BUTTFLAG installation opened as a solo exhibition at the ETC Gallery in Stockholm.
